Things that go BOOM!

NOTE: THIS GUIDE WAS WRITTEN FOR FAR CRY 2.

Looking to add some life to your maps? Take a look at this list! All of the items here are affected by explosions. They either break, explode or change position. Consider positioning these objects near your explosives and ammo piles.

One thing I really like about all these objects is that they give a nice "before and after" effect to your maps. You map starts out in one condition, but because of all the items that move around or break, your map looks different after the battle commences.

One of my favorite things to do that I think really adds life to my maps is put moveable objects, like barrels and carts, close to my explosives. Once the explosion starts, those items get spread all over the map.

I spent several hours testing objects and believe this list is complete. If you know of an object I've missed, please post a comment!

EXPLODES / BURNS AND EXPLODES:

Almost all of the vehicles will either burn (and then explode) or explode outright, depending on how close they are to an explosion. Vehicles burn for a long time after an explosion before respawning, so they add quite a bit of drama to your maps.
  • Vehicles -> Drivable -> <all except paragliders>
FULLY DESTRUCTABLE:
These are items that will be fully obliterated in an explosion. Oh, the joy!
Note that the behavior of lighter items is unpredictable. Sometimes they will move during an explosion and other times they will be destroyed. (Card Box 01-03 are a good example of this.)

PARTIALLY DESTRUCTABLE:
Only parts of these items will break, leaving a wrecked version of the object. Buildings have two different behaviors: for some, only the doors and windows are destructable -- these are indicated in orange type. For others, only the rooves are destroyed -- these are indicated in green type. The roof explosions are pretty dramatic and they don't respawn during gameplay.

These are my favorites, because they leave a big mess after an explosion that doesn't reset or respawn. (Except for the paragliders.)

  • Utilities -> Detail Objects -> Sign Limit50
